Jairo Sinova is an Alexander von Humboldt Professor (W3) at Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz and Director of the Spin Phenomena Interdisciplinary Center (SPICE). He is also Senior Professor of Physics at Texas A&M University. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from Indiana University and has held academic positions at Texas A&M University and research appointments in the United States and Europe.

Prof. Sinova is a leading theoretical physicist in spintronics and unconventional magnetism. He predicted several landmark phenomena, including the intrinsic Spin Hall effect, the Néel spin–orbit torque, and most recently altermagnetism, a new magnetic phase experimentally confirmed and named Physics Breakthrough of the Year 2024 by Science. He has authored over 250 publications, received more than 45,000 citations, and is a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and a frequent keynote speaker at major international conferences.
