Jan Phillips is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Theory of Quantum Nanostructures group at INL since February 2025. His past work was mainly centered on theoretical Density Functional Theory (DFT)studies of low dimensional materials, such as 2D Transition Metal Dichalcogenides (TMDs). At present, his work at the group is focused on studying carbon based nanographenes using DFT.

 Jan holds a PhD in Physics from Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain, 2025). He spent a three month shorty stay (2024) during his thesis at the Centro de Física de Materiales (CFM) in San Sebastian (Spain) at Jon Errea's group.
