Long Ju joined the MIT Physics Department as an Assistant Professor in 2019. He received his B.S. in Physics from Tsinghua University and his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining MIT, he was a Kavli Postdoctoral Fellow at Cornell University.
Prof. Ju’s research focuses on light–matter interactions and electron transport in novel quantum materials, with particular emphasis on atomically thin materials and van der Waals heterostructures. His group combines optical spectroscopy and microscopy across a broad spectral range with electronic transport, ultrafast optical techniques, and nanoscale imaging to investigate electronic, optical, and dynamical properties. By integrating device fabrication with electric and magnetic field control, his work aims to engineer and explore emergent quantum phenomena driven by electron correlations and topology
