FUNLAYERS Final Coordination Meeting Held in Brussels
On 9 and 10 December 2025, FUNLAYERS consortium held its final coordination meeting entitled “Fostering European IP-Dominance in beyond-CMOS Technologies” at the premises of the INESC Brussels Hub in Brussels.
The meeting aimed to strengthen coordination across the European innovation ecosystem in the field of beyond-CMOS technologies, addressing strategic challenges related to intellectual property (IP), research infrastructures, and long-term sustainability. Building on the achievements of the FUNLAYERS project, participants discussed how Europe can reinforce its technological sovereignty and competitiveness in this rapidly evolving domain.
A total of 12 participants attended in person, representing INL, ALBA, IMEC, INESC MN, INESC TEC, INESC Brussels Hub, and ANI - Portuguese National Innovation Agency. In addition, six participants joined remotely or provided written feedback ahead of the meeting, ensuring broad and inclusive contributions.
The meeting brought together representatives from universities, research infrastructures, and technological infrastructures, reflecting the diversity of actors needed to support the full innovation chain. Discussions benefited from a wide geographical coverage, with participants from Portugal, Spain, Germany, Belgium, and Denmark.
This final coordination meeting marked an important milestone for FUNLAYERS, consolidating key insights from the project and fostering dialogue on future collaboration mechanisms to support European IP leadership and sustainable innovation beyond the project’s lifetime.
