Samuel Mañas-Valero is a researcher at Technische Universiteit Delft (TU Delft), The Netherlands, where he has been working since 2022. He previously carried out research at the Institute for Molecular Science (ICMol), University of Valencia, between 2015 and 2022. He earned his PhD in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from the University of Valencia in 2021, after completing a Master’s degree in Molecular Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics at the same institution.

His research focuses on two-dimensional magnetic materials, van der Waals heterostructures, and spin-dependent phenomena, with particular emphasis on stacking engineering, magnetization switching, and magnetic domain behavior at the 2D limit. He is co-author of several high-impact publications in Nature Materials and Advanced Materials, including “Multistep Magnetization Switching in Orthogonally Twisted Ferromagnetic Monolayers” (Nature Materials, 2024) and “Programmable Magnetic Hysteresis in Orthogonally-Twisted 2D CrSBr Magnets via Stacking Engineering” (Advanced Materials, 2025), as well as earlier works on magnetic imaging, strain switching, and spin dimensionality in CrSBr-based van der Waals heterostructures.
